China Plans One Museum For Every 250,000 Citizens by 2020

News

China has announced plans to open multiple museums by 2020.

The State Administration of Cultural Heritage is aiming towards one museum for every 250,000 people by 2020, reports China Daily.

The news reinforces the country’s drive to protect its cultural heritage.

Chinese museums are expecting to see annual attendance figures rise to 800 million by the same year.

This would be an increase of 100 million visitors.

The administration has also confirmed that the first national survey of movable cultural relics is on target for completion.

Plans are in place to set up a database containing identity tags for State-owned artefacts.
