Here you will find an overview of the rides that are new in 2010 at major theme parks and amusement parks around the world. The listing includes rides that have already opened and some that are planned to open during the next few months or the course of the year.
As a general framework to identify the major theme parks and amusement parks, we consult the annual TEA/AECOM Attraction Attendance Report (aka Theme Index - download your free copy here), referring to that report’s listings for top worldwide parks, top theme park chains and top regional parks.
Excluding a few instances, typically those rides that were relocated from one park to another but are not strictly “new” have been excluded from this analysis. Also excluded, for the most part, are rides renovated and/or re-themed within a park. “Kiddie” rides (geared toward very young children) are also largely excluded, along with aquatic attractions. And due to the high level of confidentiality surrounding the attractions at the yet-to-open Wizarding World of Harry Potter, that property has also been excluded from the inventory.
Kahaner Research obtains the figures used to create this report through a variety of sources, primarily from ride manufacturers and park operators.
