Wild Water Adventure Park is a water amusement park which is located in Clovis, California.
Set in 52 acres of tree-lined fishing lakes where wildlife such as Canada Geese, egrets and even the odd fox surrounds you, the amusement park is also ideal for stopping off if you’re on route to visiting Fresno and is close to three popular National Parks – Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon.
The amusement park first opened its gates in 1974 when, under the name of Serena Vista Lakes, it offered a far more tranquil visitor experience known for its fishing and camping. It changed its name to Clovis Lakes in 1977 when other attractions such as an Olympic-sized pool and weekly dance and fashion shows were added before becoming Wild Water Adventures in 1980.
There are over 20 attractions and 38 slides at the amusement park. Thrill seeking rides include the GhostSlider – an extreme body slide and the amusement park’s newest ride which was unveiled in 2008. The Sidewinder will drop you three storeys where you’ll feel as though you might just fall over the top as a pipe whisks you back up again. There’s also the Kings River Waterworks at the amusement park which features 4 thrilling mat slides.
Arguably the amusement park’s most popular ride is its Gold Rush Mountain where you ride on tubes through mine shafts and which features spectacular fog simulation, strobe lighting and other special effects.
In addition to the thrill rides at the amusement park, there’s the Blue Wave which, with a million gallons of water, is reputed to be the largest wave pool in California. There’s also Adventure Bay and Buccaneer Landing where there are dozens of smaller slides and activities for younger children to enjoy.
The amusement park also caters for those who want to spend a leisurely day fishing. There are volleyball courts and horseshoe pits too. And, unlike many amusement parks, you can even bring your own BBQ and enjoy a family cookout.
Since 1990, the amusement park has garnished an admirable reputation for hosting its Star Spangled Revue – a 4th of July spectacular event featuring a laser show, incredible fireworks, music and entertainment.
