Adventure Island and Shipwreck Island are an amusement park and waterpark located in Jacksonville Beach in Florida. Combined, they represent the largest family entertainment complex in northeast Florida and are owned by the Adventure Entertainment Company.
The ‘Adventure Island’ brand consists of ten amusement parks in total with the one in Jacksonville Beach being the first to open in 1995. There are 3 parks in each of the states of Florida, New York and North Carolina and a further one in Texas although the attractions are not the same at each amusement park
The amusement park operates on a ‘pay as you play’ basis whilst the water park requires you to pay a general admission charge and only operates on a seasonal basis.
Since its opening, the amusement park has attracted in excess of 5 million visitors and has become extremely popular with both Florida residents and tourists alike.
The Adventure Island amusement park features go karts, two 18-hole miniature golf courses, the Wacky Worm rollercoaster, Laser Tag, a flight simulator and a batting cage. There are also two themed snack bars and other onsite food and catering services. The amusement park can also cater for thousands of private family and corporate events.
Perhaps an even greater focal point is the neighbouring Shipwreck Island Water Park. This amusement park attracts both young and not-so-young alike and as well as featuring a half a million gallon wave pool – Typhoon Lagoon, the amusement park also attracts thrill seekers with its four extreme water slides. These are called the Rage, the Eye of the Storm, the Hydro Half-Pipe and the latest slide, The Undertow, which opened in 2008.
With so much competition in the amusement park industry, particularly in Florida, Adventure Landing’s management team continually strives to research the latest ride innovations as well as ensuring that existing rides are maintained with state of the art technology.
