Storybook Land is an amusement park located in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey which is about 10 miles west of Atlantic City.
It is an amusement park which was constructed in 1955 by the Fricano family and has been owned and operated by them ever since.
The aim of the amusement park is all about keeping the spirit of childhood alive through a series of educational and entertaining walks, rides and other attractions which take your children on a journey through some of the timeless classics of children’s stories and nursery rhymes. The amusement park also takes adults on a nostalgic journey back in time to their own childhood experiences.
Rides at the amusement park include the Happy Dragon, Balloons, Old Tymers, Bubbles the Coaster, Turtle Twirl and the J&J Railroad. Although all of the rides at the amusement park are designed for young children of about 2-8 year old predominantly, some of them do h
ave height restrictions and/or need adult accompaniment on the rides. There are about a dozen rides at the amusement park overall.
Some of the fairytales and nursery rhyme experiences at the amusement park include climbing up the hill and sliding back down again with Jack and Jill, or visiting the old lady who lives in a shoe with all of her children. You can also stop by and visit the homes made of brick, straw and twigs in which the three little pigs live.
Christmas is a very special time at the amusement park where you can take the Christmas train and visit Santa’s reindeer in their stables. And, as day turns to dusk, you will see Santa appearing in the chimney of his house to where everybody’s invited and, upon him waving his magic wand, he turns on all of the magical lights. And, if you happen to miss Santa at Christmas time, do not fear as he makes a very special additional visit to the amusement park in the summer to celebrate ‘Christmas in July’.
There is also a petting zoo at the amusement park featuring deer, goats, pigs and sheep and vending machines are on hand if you want to buy food to give to the animals.
