Wet ‘n’ Wild is an amusement park located in Orlando, Florida.

The amusement park was the first of a chain of Wet ‘n’ Wild water parks created by George Millay (also the creator of SeaWorld) and opened in 1977. It is deemed to be the USA’s first major water park creation and the World Waterpark Association went on to present George Millay with a Lifetime Achievement  Award and gave him the official title of ‘Father of the Waterpark’. 

In 1998, George Millay sold the amusement park to Universal Orlando. Today, there is just one other Wet ‘n’ Wild amusement park which is located in Greensboro, North Carolina, although that one is not owned by Universal.

The amusement park features plenty of thrill rides and slides including The Black Hole which is a space adventure ride. Other thrill rides include Brain Wash, Mach 5, The Surge, Der Stuka and Bomb Bay, just to name a few. 

In addition to some of the most thrilling rides at the amusement park, from May to September, Wet ‘n’ Wild also opens up its WakeZone in which riders can practice their wakeboarding and water-skiing skills on three separate attractions on the lake. 

There is also a 17,000 square foot wave pool at the amusement park with comfortable seating facilities if you want to take some time out from the rides to relax and this also features a dramatic waterfall. Those who enjoy beach volleyball are also catered for with a number of full-size courts contained within the amusement park.

Younger visitors are also well catered for at the amusement park with a special kids’ park for under 13s which included smaller replicas of some of the much larger slides which feature in the main amusement park. This area also contains Bubble Up – a massive, wet inflatable bubble that younger children can climb up on and slide down into 3 feet of water.
