The first 56 official rides on Dollywood’s new $17.5 million Mystery Mine roller coaster will be up for grabs during an eBay auction that begins Tuesday, March 20, at 11a.m.. EST.
Winning bidders will ride Mystery Mine, the only ride of its kind in the U.S., on Friday, April 13, 2007, during the ride’s official grand opening festivities attended by Dolly Parton.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1996 that provides a book a month to registered preschool-age children in participating communities. The Imagination Library currently operates in 600 communities in 44 states as well as Canada.
Winning bidders will receive one seat on one of the first seven ride cars for Mystery Mine’s first ride cycle on Friday, April 13, 2007, plus a limited edition commemorative package which includes:
- Dollywood one-day admission tickets for the winner and a guest for Friday, April 13, 2007; and Saturday, April 14, 2007;
- Participation in and VIP seating for Dollywood’s Media Day activities on Friday, April 13, 2007;
- A photo with Dolly Parton;
- A framed commemorative print featuring a ride photo, a signed photo of the winner with Dolly Parton, and other Mystery Mine memorabilia signifying the winner’s participation in the first official Mystery Mine ride.
The winning bidder must be 18 years of age or older. Bids will be accepted through March 30, 2007, at 11 a.m. Mystery Mine artist renderings and ride simulation video may be viewed at www.mysterymine.com.
