Ten years ago MACK Rides created the very first controlled Spinning Coaster.
MACK Rides continues to own the records for the fastest and longest Spinning Coaster in the World. But the needs, especially of mid-sized theme parks, have changed and MACK Rides have taken their concept some big steps further.
Everything is new
There are a number of manufacturers of Spinning Coasters in this industry. MACK Rides observed the market closely and revolutionized the concept of this coaster type. But what exactly is new? First , MACK Rides is the only coaster company offering trains instead of single cars on Spinning Coasters without loosing the popular back to back seating featuring the view to the outside. Now the capacity is so high that this coaster type is getting interesting for big parks, too. Furthermore, less or no block brakes are necessary to install. If so desired, it is of course still possible to build your MACK Rides spinning coaster with single cars .
In May the first coaster of the new generation opened to the public at America’s first Theme Park – Knott’s Berry Farm in Los Angeles, California. The "Sierra Sidewinder" won the spoiled coaster fans over in a storm! In co-operation with the worldwide renowned engineering company Werner Stengel, the creatives of MACK Rides designed an extremely fast, very diversified track layout with 2 big drops, a horse shoe element and a signature helix very close to the ground. Exclusive to MACK rides is a new, ultra-precise track fabrication method ("zero ground level") which guarantees a smooth ride experience despite the high speeds. Of course the coaster cars are designed to easily hold the currently very-much-in-vogue onride video cameras which record the ride for the happy riders.
Having fun together – the family as the target market
The big thrill can be experienced by the entire family; this is a priority in the company concept. No other Spinning Coaster on the market can be experienced by kids of only 1,07m in height (42") and this is a crucial point for the guest satisfaction. Individual lap bars and ergonomic seats provide a comfortable experience with maximum safety applying to the tough German TUV standards.
Another MACK Rides’ exclusive is the choice between controlled AND free spinning during the same ride. This enables the customer to add for example dark ride segments where the cars are turned to the scenes in a pre-defined way – and still the cars can spin freely right after this in order to offer a ride experience which is never the same way twice. Additionally the coaster can come with many creative lift hill variations from chain lift to vertical or spiral lift.
Even more innovations
Just recently we patented a completely unique and individual way to make your Spinning Coaster even more crazy. Magnets can be put on certain track parts to make the cars spin and react additionally to the already unpredictable nature of the ride. This innovation is an optional feature to increase the fun.
At the end of the ride magnetic breaks bring the trains to a smooth halt. Where other manufacturers of Spinning Coasters spin the cars back in line rather uncomfortably, the trains of MACK Rides glide back into the station while turning to the end position comfortably with a small motor installed underneath.
