Särkänniemi Adventure Park is to open a new themed area this coming summer, based on the incredibly popular mobile game Angry Birds. The new area is aimed at children and families and ‘Angry Birds Land’ will be designed “according to the style of the world’s leading amusement parks”.

"We wanted to create a unique themed area and associate it with a strong and well-known brand”, says Miikka Seppälä, CEO of Särkänniemi Adventure Park. “The Angry Birds characters were born in Finland but known worldwide by people of all ages. This is a perfect fit for our Adventure Park”, says Seppälä.
Angry Birds has proved to be a worldwide hit for the mobile gaming platform, with over 500 million downloads by the end of the year and 6.5 million on Christmas day alone; so it’s no real surprise it’s to come to a theme park in Finland, the country of its birth.

Särkänniemi theme park, in cooperation with Rovaniemi playground manufacturer Lappset Group Ltd. and world´s leading theme park manufacturers offer a delightful Angry Birds experience for the whole family”, reveals Harri Koponen, Rovio´s EVP Lisensing and Merchandising.
More information on the design of Angry Birds Land will be coming from Särkänniemin this spring. It is thought that the park will include rides, amusement park games and a “Magic Places” area “where activities and the gaming world meet”.
The new theme has been designed in collaboration between Särkänniemi, Rovio Entertainment (the Finnish game developers responsible for Angry Birds) and BDR Design, an entertainment design company who have worked on theme parks globally and are internationally recognised.
The Särkänniemi Adventure Park is due to open its doors for the summer on April 28th, so look out for “sneak peeks” of Angry Birds Land, which will appear on both the theme park’s website and Facebook.
The theme park is situated in a beautiful lakeland in the heart of Tampere, Finland, wholly owned by the city Särkänniemi was established in 1966 and is Finland’s largest leisure park. The addition of Angry Birds Land is sure to make it a hit with visitors worldwide.
