Cantilevered Coaster Systems (CCS) of Santa Monica, California has just added four animated sequences to their web site based on an attraction concept taken from popular film and utilising a simplified Cantilevered Roller Coaster mechanical system. You can view the animation at www.cantileveredcoaster.com.
The Cantilevered Coaster System or “CRC” is the first roller coaster ride system that actually places the ride vehicle and its passengers away from the track system, and at varying distances and angles. The CRC is a patented, multi-axis, articulated system employing two rail sets and two coaster chassis, the lower chassis anchoring a support arm, this passing through a gimbaled bearing system in the upper chassis, and supporting the ride vehicle. The support arm moves back and forth through the upper chassis, which in turn serves as a fulcrum between the lower chassis and the vehicle. The effect is not unlike a tracked simulator system, but without the electric and/or hydraulic servo-systems and their associated computer controls, using and amplifying all the best dynamic qualities of a roller coaster ride.
Development of the CRC system not only promises some exciting roller coaster possibilities, but also the potential as a multi-faceted ride system usable in both high and slow-speed attractions. From coasters to dark rides, in highly themed environments or just as a stripped down “iron ride”, the CRC system has the potential to revolutionize the ride system and theme park market
Cantilevered Coaster Systems (CCS) of Santa Monica, California is a design company partnership. In operation since 2004, CCS is headed by John J. Hogg who has been active as a designer and art director on major projects in theme parks and themed entertainment for over twenty years.
CCS is looking for strategic partners in the areas of theme park ownership/development and ride manufacturing in order to help bring the CRC system to market. Interested parties may contact CCS at info@cantileveredcoaster.com.
