Chinese-American Community Group to Sponsor The USA National Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo

The USA National Pavilion organizers are delighted to announce that the USA-China Education, Science & Culture Association will join as a sponsor of the USA National Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.  The non-profit community group with offices in New York and Shanghai will invite influential Chinese-American speakers to conferences and symposiums highlighting the success of Chinese communities in American National Pavilion.

Ellen R. Eliasoph, Co-Chair of the USA Pavilion organization, remarked, “We are proud to announce the USA-China Education, Science & Culture Association’s sponsorship of the USA National Pavilion, and look forward to partnering to strengthen US-China relations through such Chinese-American community-based organizations during the World Expo in 2010.   The enhancement of educational and cultural ties between our two nations will lead to better cities and better lives.”

“We are delighted to welcome the first Chinese-American sponsor of the USA National Pavilion at the World Expo in Shanghai,” said U.S. Consul General in Shanghai Beatrice Camp.  “The Expo offers us an opportunity to showcase the important role that the Chinese community in America has played in the building a vibrant and prosperous society.  This message can be communicated to the 70 million visitors expected to attend from China and around the globe.”

Frank T. Yuan, Chairman of USA-China Education, Science & Culture Association’s said,  “As the first Chinese-American community group to sponsor the USA Pavilion, we are proud to have the opportunity to tell the story of how Chinese immigrants have been a part of helping America to build better cities and better lives.” James Zheng, President of the Association said that, “We are proud to be the first Chinese American community-based organization to sponsor the USA Pavilion. As part of this sponsorship it is also an honor for us to be a part of Shanghai World Expo in 2010. This is another step in strengthening the relations between US and China.”

The Shanghai World Expo 2010 will be held from May 1 through October 31, 2010 with a projected 70 million attendees.  This will be China’s first role as host of a world expo;  and 95 percent of all the Expo attendees are expected to come from Mainland China.

At more than 60,000 square feet, the USA National Pavilion will be one of the largest pavilions at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.  It will showcase American culture, values, and businesses in China’s most dynamic city, while at the same time celebrating the friendship between the U.S. and China.

In accordance with U.S. legal requirements, the USA Pavilion is being funded and operated through a non-profit organization.  The entity is co-chaired by Ms. Ellen R. Eliasoph and Mr. Nick S. Winslow.  The U.S. Department of State is prohibited by U.S. Federal Law from contributing funds for U.S. participation in expositions such as World Expo Shanghai 2010.  Therefore, U.S. private sector participation is essential to raise the necessary funds to design, build and operate the USA Pavilion.
