Development has started on the Valley of the Springs Resort, a 156-room hotel in French Lick that will include a 40,000 square foot indoor waterpark. Sitting directly across from the French Lick Springs Resort, the complex will also include restaurants and a conference area. The resort says it expects to employ about 150 workers when the project is completed in the fall of next year. The project is being developed by Jerry and Carolyn Fuhs of French Lick itself.

With more than a dozen unique water attractions in an island-themed, family environment, Big Splash Island will feature a translucent, retractable roof enabling more natural light and increased energy conservation. The development will also have a large arcade, restaurants and a conference area and includes plans for 300 additional hotel rooms to be added in the future.

The Valley of the Springs Resort complex is situated is on a hill above the Beechwood Inn directly across from the French Lick Resort Casino. A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for this summer. When completed in the fall of 2008, it will employ 150 people.

The Fuhs’ currently own and operate several other Indiana hospitality properties, including Santa’s Lodge in Santa Claus ; Beechwood Inn and Wilstem Guest Ranch in French Lick; Gasthof Amish Village in Montgomery and Baymont Inn & Suites in Dale. In addition to Indiana, Valley of the Springs Resort expects to attract visitors from the nearby markets such of Louisville and Lexington, KY; Cincinnati and Dayton, OH and Nashville, TN.
