Call for Participation: IMERSA is currently accepting proposals for the technology showcase at c3: VisionLAB: 2010 State of the Arts, a symposium addressing future trends in the arts and media, culture and society, June 19 at Los Angeles Center Studios. IMERSA is an international nonprofit dedicated to the promotion, application and development of immersive technology for education, research and entertainment, and a sponsor of the c3 event.
Proposals will be considered in such areas as augmented reality and alternate reality games, interactive and kinetic art, i
mmersive theater demonstrations (such as mobile digital domes), robotics, projected media, gesture interactives and other cutting-edge technologies and media modalities. The c3: VisionLAB: 2010 State of the Arts symposium (SOA 2010) addresses future trends in the arts and media and the power they hold to effect change in culture and society. The symposium includes panels on: The Evolution of the Arts; Past, Present and Future; Arts& Media in the Digital Age; Immersive & Interactive Arts (sponsored by IMERSA); and Conscious Creativity & Creative Activism. Among the panelists are producer Charlotte Huggins, director Brett Leonard, Michael Gilbert (USC Annenberg Center for the Digital Future), Alison Savitch (president, Producers Guild of America New Media), Ben Mendelson (Interactive Television Alliance), c3 executive director Kate McCallum and Ed Lantz.
