This summer marked the grand opening of Legoland’s first and only waterpark installation.
The 5.5 acre, $
12 million addition to the existing family theme park in Carlsbad, California is the largest ever at the park. It has been geared to families with children between the ages of 2 – 12 years but the colors and creativity of the design will appeal to the kid in everyone. After all, who didn’t play with Lego as a child? Bursting with color and imagination, the slides, towers and theming were supplied and installed by WhiteWater West, with the towers designed to appear as if a child had created them out of the world’s favorite building bricks.
Among the waterslides are: Orange Rush – a Family Raft Ride that was specifically modified to suit the smaller children who visit Legoland. This ride allows up to four people in an inner-tube to slide down a 312 foot (95m) long, 11 foot (3.35m) wide flume. Twin Chasers are two side by side, enclosed tube slides that measure 130 feet (39.6m) in length. The open body slide, Splash Out takes park-goers on a 240 foot (73m) ride splashing them out into the water below.
The waterpark also boasts a Lego themed AquaTune™ , a playful musical instrument where kids can try their hand at composing the next big hit. They simply cover the arching water jets with their fingers to create a gentle organ sound. This spray feature is entertainment for the budding musician and audience alike!
The WhiteWater group, including Prime Play, is thrilled to have collaborated yet again with Legoland California on their most recent installation. This marks the fourth project the companies have worked on together over the last several years and we look forward to many more in the future.
