Mommy Meetup allows mommy groups early admission, new adventures
Children and moms who are part of mommy groups, such as Mommy and Me, have a new way to enjoy the San Diego Zoo through Mommy Meetup. The Zoo's Mommy Meetup program allows Mommy group participants -with a reservation- to get into the Zoo early and enjoy a special program that includes a chance to meet some of the many special creatures at the San Diego Zoo up close and personal.
"Here at the San Diego Zoo, we feel it is very important to help children connect to wildlife at an early age and are pleased we can offer a new experience for mommy groups through Mommy Meetup," said Adrienne Niver, the San Diego Zoo's Guest Programs Department manager.
The program is designed to allow mothers and their children up to 5 years old to enjoy a one-hour early morning special experience. The theme changes each month. The February theme is "Stories on the Wild Side." In March, the focus is expected to be on orangutans. The program is offered Monday through Friday, beginning at 8:45 a.m.
There is no charge for this program; however participants are responsible for their own admission into the Zoo. The minimum number of moms for a Mommy Meetup is 12; the maximum is 22. Each Mommy group can participate once a month. Mommy group leaders sign up their groups on Meetup.com. (Search for San Diego Zoo).
