An Amusement Park? Good Night Bush - A Marketing Story
Tweet
An interesting piece of guerrilla marketing showed up in some industry inboxes shortly before the inauguration of President Obama. On first glance it appeared that an architectural firm was sharing an interactive site plan for a commemorative educational venue themed on the GW Bush administration...
On closer examination, it was a satire and the real promotion was for a book written by the senders, Erich Origen and Gan Golan. The book,
Good Night Bush
, is a left-leaning parody of the illustrated children's classic
Good Night Moon
, by Margaret Wise Brown.
With the wrapup of the W administration one can imagine that the market for
Good Night Bush
is rapidly shrinking, but that the book would have a certain appeal as a commemorative product in the final days, hence the mass email campaign.
The Librarium gimmick would have sparked the idea of targeting communities involved in architecture and attraction development, and an online search would have turned up lists such as the Themed Entertainment Association member directory. Not everyone who received the email was pleased – but perhaps some books were sold.
