Thursday, November 08, 2007 Amusement parks; Disney's New Theme Park in Malaysia?
A report from Reuters this morning tells us that Disney is close to signing on the dotted line for a new theme park in Malaysia.

"The proposed Disneyland theme park and resort is slated to be bigger than Hong Kong Disneyland and about the size of Tokyo Disney Resort" it says and quotes the ubiquitous "unnamed sources" as saying the resort will be open around 2013 and will be located in Bardar Nusajaya in the Iskandar development zone. This 2,200 square km zone has so far clinched around $6 billion in investments, including a $4.7 billion maritime park proposed by Dubai World and Malaysia's infrastructure-to-energy group MMC Bhd. With talks progressing well with Disney it is looking like the deal will be signed midway through next year. Discussions are continuing with other theme park operators (Warner Bros. and MGM). Bearing in mind Singapore's massive investment in their tourist infrastructure and the continuing growth of Sentosa this is one busy part of the world...
