Paramount Movie Theme Park planned for Kolkata
A film city along the lines of Universal Studios in Hollywood could be on the cards for Kolkata as Paramount VP Tom Renger's visit with Priya Entertainment Private Ltd last week suggests...
Paramount's impressive portfolio, which includes world famous characters such as Indiana Jones, Popeye and Caspar the Friendly Ghost could soon be the subject of themed rides and attractions in the sub-continent as Tollywood explores the potential of its second movie theme park.(see
Paramount Team in Kolkata for Talks on Film City )
Interesting to see what becomes of these initial discussions..
I reported last week on my trip to Ramoji Film City in Andra Pradesh and reflected on how it has developed into a world class attraction and theme park in a little over a decade (see

)
One thing I always love when visiting theme parks is the landscaping and Ramoji, set in the beautiful rollling hills of AP was bedecked with carefully tended gardens and plants and buzzing with birds and wildlife. A couple of pics here. On the left a bee eater and on the right a cryptic mantid I spotted yards from the front door of Ramoji's Tara Hotel, busy being camouflaged and rejoicing in the name of "The Wandering Violin."
