$250m I-Drive 360 and Orlando EYE Opens with Nik Wallenda Record Breaking Stunt

News

I-Drive 360, the new $250 million entertainment complex and home to the iconic Orlando Eye observation wheel, celebrated its grand opening on April 29th 2015 with a record breaking stunt from Nik Wallenda.

"King of the High Wire", Wallenda’s latest record was for walking the greatest distance on top of an observation wheel, as he traversed the rotating 400-foot tall Orlando EYE structure without a tether, wire or his signature balancing pole.

Commenting on his daring walk Wallenda said, "It truly was an inspiring experience to be on top of the Eye, " said Wallenda. "From the first moment I saw it being built, I knew it was something special and without a doubt would make for one of the most unique walks of my career."

Located in the heart of Orlando's popular International Drive, I-Drive 360 includes a mix of attractions, restaurants, clubs and shops with the Orlando Eye as the focal point of the development.

The Orlando Eye is the largest observation wheel on the East Coast of the United States, allowing passengers the 360-degree views of Central Florida from the 30 air-conditioned passenger capsules.

AO&A, experts in the development of themed entertainment attractions, created the pre-show interactive theatre experience which showcases Central Florida.  The pre-flight 4D cinema experience takes guests on a full 3D aerial journey of Florida, with the added dimension of sensory experiences, including lighting, wind, spray and scent effects

In addition to the Orlando Eye, the entertainment complex includes a SEA LIFE Aquarium and Madame Tussauds wax attraction, operated by Merlin Entertainments.

The public opening is scheduled for May 4, 2015.

"On the heels of a record-breaking year for visitors to Orlando in 2014, I-Drive 360 is poised to become the newest and hottest offering, " said I-Drive 360 Director of Marketing & Sales John Stine.  "We are thrilled to bring this experience, which is unlike anything else in Orlando, to complement the dynamic destination."
